The following is a self-reflection on my experiences.

As an incoming freshman to high school I can remember picking my electives and seeing Digital Design I, II, III, and IV on the course card. As I looked at these courses, I thought to myself this class could be fun. I already had a basic understanding of what Graphic Design was as my dad runs a website business and graphic design can play a key part in that. So, I signed up for the class eager to start. Unfortunately however I was not granted the elective.

However, I was not about to let this stop me. Unable to get the class the next year and with the elective program scheduled to shut down I had to act fast. So, I spoke to the teacher of the program and asked if there was any way I could get into the program. I ended up joining straight into Digital Design II. This meant all the other students had a year of experience on me so I would have to work even harder to stay with the pack. That was the year I fell in love with Graphic Design. I managed to actually stay ahead of the pack in the class and pass my Illustrator certification first try.

From that point on Digital Design became the focus of not only my high school career but also my life. I later earned my certifications in Photoshop, InDesign, and Animate. These classes have helped me grow in my creativity and my problem solving. I have learned how I can do whatever I put my mind to. Taking these classes was the best decision of my high school career.

After graduating and enrolling in college at Southeastern University I realized that photography and videography we’re also passions of mine. I began to Branch out into work that included these passions and ended up Landing a job at my church on our production team working in live broadcast.
